Brooklyn's Nursery....Getting Started!

Well, it is almost week 29 and the progress on Brooklyn’s nursery is slow.  LOTS of ideas….now it is time to put into action.

Daddy-to-be is doing an amazing job at making sure all of my ideas/request come to life.
-          The perfect crib:  Jenny Lind….ordered and put together as a surprise while I was out-of-town one weekend.

-          Bead board:  Originally I was thinking I wanted bead board on the lower half of the walls.  So, Austin did his research, purchased a piece, had it cut….and well….I changed my mind  =)
-          Pink walls:  I have decided the walls are going to be PINK!  What if this is my only little girl….I just couldn’t resist.  Finding the perfect pink color though is turning out to be difficult.  LOTS of samples are on the wall (note…some have already been covered by primer)

-          Dollhouse bookcase:  I saw this at a shower this weekend and immediately texted a picture to Austin.  I know he can do it!  Brooklyn’s will be a bit skinnier and a few stories taller!

Papa (my dad) is working hard too:
-          Armoier:  He is redoing an old armoire of Austin’s family….fixing the drawers, making white, new knobs, no small square mirror…just the long one.

-          Dresser/Changing table:  He is building the perfect dresser/changing table.  I had a vision and could not find anywhere (or at least for a reasonable price)…..so what is an even better option….have my Dad build one for Brooklyn!  It is going to be long (enough space for changing pad + decor), some drawers, some shelving space for baskets.  It is going to be great!

Chair:  We have decided on a glider.  Yes, it is PINK too….kind of nervous about all the pink BUT I know it will work out.  Will add white pillow, white blanket….curtains, furniture, rug will be white….sweet and girlie!

Room ideas:
-          Ruffles:  I have decided to try and make the crib bedding and most likely my curtains.  Wish me luck!  All I want is a simple white bumper and white shirt with pink trim….that does not cost a fortune.  As I have not found anywhere, I am going to test my sewing skills.  The skirt is my first task.  It will be white with pink ruffles on the bottom (check back for updates)!
-          Frame above bed:  I purchased this frame from Ikea…..painting white….and hanging above crib!  I am going to put a ‘B’ in the middle (not sure if just painted on wall or something more crafty….we will see).

-          Tutu:  The room is NOT going to be all ballerina BUT will have ‘tutu’ accents.  To begin with, I am going to take this figure and add a tutu.  I will either leave like that or further decorate to become a bow/headband holder….we will see what I decide.  (Also pictured is a lamp I bought!)

Week 28

It has been a while since I posted my belly picture update.
We had a successful week 24 doctor visit but ran out of time to take a picture.
We took a picture at week 25 but it was at a bad angle
(ie I thought I looked horrible in it).
This morning we had our week 28 appointment!  Austin worked on his angle and was successful in making this mommy-to-be happy with the picture.  As you can see, I am growing, growing, growing!

THIS IS WEEK 28 PICTURE!
Austin is exhausted from work...and I have been staying up late...neither of us realized the poster board was on the wrong side...OOOPPS!!!!
The doctor says I am moving along perfecting…weight, belly growth (they measure at each appointment), heartbeat, etc.  I also had my blood tested for diabetes….everything was normal!  And I could not ask for a better pregnancy experience…no sickness, no huge cravings, energy is up, etc.  And my back pain and headaches have been few and far in between.  I will say I am eating more sweets….at least one dessert a day but normally a few more  =)

Austin had to miss out on this appointment….not to worry though…technology can work wonders!  I recorded the heartbeat for him to hear…..turn the volume up  =)
***Will be posting video!!!

NYC

First trip to New York….26+ weeks pregnant!
I traveled to NY for work….women’s fall 2012 market.
It was a great experience to see many of our vendor show rooms, trends for fall, etc.  I had the opportunity to visit Cucinelli, Jason Wu, McQ, Nancy Gonzalez, Rachel Zoe….just to name a few!
We also had wonderful food (obviously this part is exciting for both Brooklyn and I)….Beacon, Il Corso, Serafina, Smith.  I enjoyed a walk-thru at Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys as well as a quick sip at the Four Seasons.  We stayed at The Chambers, a boutique hotel in mid-town.
Brooklyn even got a gift from FAO Schwartz (WHAT A GREAT STORE….I am already excited about taking her there one day!!!).

Overall, it was a successful trip….I did not get to see the typical touristy things but look forward to do that on a personal visit.

Miss Little Burger has a NAME!!!

We are so excited to have such a perfect name for our little girl!
Brooklyn Kari Shamburger
Brooklyn is a name Austin and I have been in love with (chosen) for several months....
before we knew we were having Little Burger...much less a girl!
The middle name, Kari, is after my 2 wonderful Grandmas:  KAtie and RIta.
Love them both dearly and could not think of better ladies for our little Brooklyn to be named after!  We just can't wait to meet her =)

We told the family with a little 'name scramble'!
Each of the letters above were mixed up and put in an envelope.  It was so much fun to watch them try to figure it out.  Shamburger was obviously easy but it took a few guesses to narrow down the rest!

CC is ready for Brooklyn to come visit already.....crib is up, pink bumper attached, and name displayed!
What a great idea CC!!!

Week 20 - Ultra Sound

We are happy to report Little Burger received an A+ at our week 20 doctor appointment!
LB's brain, heart, kidneys, etc were all checked per our ultra sound and passed with flying colors!  This was the best news ever!!!
Our little baby is still growing and developing and healthy - could not be happier!!!

Gender Reveal Party on Saturday!!!

Little Burger is the size of a small cantaloupe!
I am feeling GREAT!  A bit emotional at times but really just feeling normal - minus the belly growth.  My 'baby bump' is getting bigger....my clothes are getting tight!
I went shopping for some maternity clothes so I am prepared for the morning nothing fits!
Based on my Gap Maternity experience....I am not sure why anyone would want to go back to 'normal' clothes!  Elastic wastes are awesome  =)
